Planning a romantic getaway can be the most fun in the world. Not only that, but it can be a great romantic gift idea for you to give to each other. Romantic gifts for couples are never easy to come by and the idea is to have fun and, more importantly, have fun together.
The most important thing to remember, if money is an issue, is stay within your budget. Find a nice quaint out of the way place that you can both enjoy...and afford. If you are worried about how much money you are spending you will not be able to relax and the primary goal of the weekend is to relax and connect with your partner. With that said lets begin...
Where To Go: Well this depends on the two of you. What do you find romantic? Do you enjoy the country? The mountains? The city? Do you want to be adventurous and exploratory outside discovering new places? Or do you want to be adventurous and discover new things about your partner quietly in the comfort of your room? Or do you want a combination of the two?
My fiance and I just recently went to Andorra, which is a beautiful little country nestled between Spain and France for a quiet getaway. It was easy and inexpensive for us because my fiance is originally from Barcelona, Spain and we spend a lot of time there throughout the year.
While in Andorra, we stayed in a romantic mountain hotel. Our plan was to treat our getaway as an indoor picnic so we stopped off at the supermarket before we left and bought enough food so that we did not have to leave the hotel room for anything if we did not want to.
We spent the first day in our room with each other eating our meals picnic style on the bed and relaxing. It was very romantic and helped us connect on many different levels setting a great tone for rest of the weekend.
The next day we were a bit more adventurous. We walked around the little village we were in and enjoyed the local surroundings. Although it was winter and a little cold, the weather was perfectly sunny and that warmed things up. After our little stroll we decided to be very adventurous and do something that neither one of us had ever done before. So we decided to go to another nearby village and take a short dog sledding trip! Although it was very physically demanding, it was a lot of fun and the fact that we did it together is something that we will always remember!
Many times it does not even matter where you are as long as you are there together and enjoying each others company. You do not need to spend a lot of money, we didn't, but we still remember and talk about that trip to Andorra all the time, laughing about all the little things that happened! It was one of the greatest romantic gifts we, as a couple, have ever given each other.
